On April 24, 1980 two brothers, 25-year-old James, and 18-year-old Richard Spurling were driving past the auction yard and spotted the black Chevrolet pick-up truck in the Davenport, Iowa.
They bought it for $140 at the auction conducted by the police department.
A few hours later they noticed a foul odor coming from the truck—what they found was the decomposing bodies of Gary Harker and Cody James
